I would like to participate in the shares of Exeter Street Hall and attach a cheque for £xxxx with my application form.
For the first forty years of my life I went to St Luke’s Presonville Church (until I moved away). I lived in Coventry Street and Stafford Road and ALL my life was based around the church and Exeter Street Hall.
As a child I went to Sunday School every Sunday afternoon in the Hall at 3pm where my Aunt Ethel Smith was superintendent. I was also taken to church and for many years went three times a day on a Sunday!
I was in the 18th Brighton Brownies then into the 18th Guide Company (1946) to be followed by Rangers and eventually being the Brown Owl for the 18th Brownies – I was also a member of the Church choir and Pathfinder leader and on PCC, consequently my whole life evolved around the Church and St. Lukes Hall.
I remember well the annual Sale of Work and the Choirs Carol Concert as well as all the other activities that went on for all ages – I am still very much in touch with xxxxxxxI sincerely hope and trust you will be able to save the hall for the Prestonville Community – It was were I grew up and learned many lessons to see me through life and I have very happy memories of my times there. It would be criminal to lose this building.
Good luck. Sincerely Mavis Smith
